5 Style Trends to hit Cape Town this Summer

Summer is undoubtedly my fave season in Cape Town. The weather is hot, and we are spoilt for choice by the many beaches around this beautiful peninsula. Let’s face it, summer in Cape Town is more than just a season…it’s a lifestyle. It’s the best and anyone would be lucky to spend a summer in Cape Town.

So, I have put together 5 key womenswear trends that I think will be over Cape Town city this summer 2017/18.

  1. Statement sunglasses

We all need a goof pairs of shades in the harsh South African sun. It’s important to have lenses with proper UV protection, but it’s also an extra bonus to have a fun pair. I love how no frame is out of style, so you can go with any frame with any colour. I personally have my eye on a pair of cat-eye sunglasses!

  1. Tropical print

Lots of colour will be seen around the Mother city this summer! From swimwear, to cover ups, and everyday casual looks all in bright tropical colours and nature inspired prints.

  1. Full-piece bathing suits

This trend is not going anywhere as more stores are stocked with one-piece swimming costumes.

  1. The holiday shirt

A good summer shirt is an essential to keeping yourself cool in the heat. The best thing about them is that they can go from the beach to sun-downers without compromising comfort. This season shirts will be bright, colourful and full of fun print. There’s many options with this one.

I know I threw a picture of a guy in there, but that’s because tropical will be a key print even in the menswear too.

  1. Off shoulder

This is another trend that’s here to stay this summer! It’s still cute and fun.

Colour is undoubtedly key for this season. Dreamy vacation with  a hint of romanticism is what’s coming through these trends, hence the dramatic touches to pieces seen on the runways and on the streets.

I cannot wait for summer!

  1. Looks like I’d fit right in, in Cape Town! I love rocking statement sunglasses and I’m obsessed with tropical prints! I might take a hard pass on the shirts though and while I do prefer two-piece swimsuits I have to admit the modern whole pieces are sooooo chic!
