So I’m still a bit Jeju obsessed. My Spring weekend on the amazing volcanic island of South Korea has left me daydreaming of it even more, now that the hot sticky summer of Korea has hit the country full force.
The cosmetics industry in South Korea is serious business and the Korean beauty market has surpassed its other neighbouring competitors in Asia. In fact, its global presence is growing stronger. There are many brands in Korea, in fact too many to list in one blog post, that are with visiting and stocking up your beauty counter with. I will give you my short list of the best brands and my favourite products from them!
Over my years living in Seoul, I have always heard about the famous Dragon Hill Spa in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. On doing a search, I saw beautiful interiors with multi-levels of spas offering a a variety of treatments. I got a bad knot in my trapeze muscle, and decided to treat myself to a good massage at the ultimate jimjilbang in Seoul after my Korean class.
I haven’t done a beauty post in a while. In fact, I have been slacking off on doing posts over the last few months. However, I am trying to make 1 post a week from this year on! As you all know, I love goodies from Korea. Shopping for make-up and beauty products is an amazing experience.
I love a good massage, and always ensure I get one while on holiday abroad. However, there are various treatments on offer in different countries, as well as different prices. Thus far, Asia has impressed me the most with their variety of spa and relaxation treatments that are in high quality and affordable. In this post, I bring you my own experiences and quest in finding the best Asia has to offer.
Unlike South East Asia, massages and spa treatments are not a speciality in Europe and can be very pricey. You won’t get a treatment for both hot spa and a full body massage for under $20 here! I am now a student, so casually spending money for treats like massages is no longer on my agenda.
Being the lucky girl I am, I was bestowed with the lovely gift of a full spa treatment from my amazing friends for my birthday! Perfect.
Liquid foundation, for me, is an essential part of my make-up routine. I’m not blessed with perfect skin, and liquid foundation serves as the quick cover-up solution when leaving the house. It also serves as an essential foundation layer before applying your powder foundation!
I used to use L’oreal’s Infallible liquid foundation, but recently it has gone under a new look. I don’t mind a new fancy look and packaging, but it stopped containing the one important element in it: SPF!
If there’s one thing Korean make-up tutorials have taught me, and coming from a hot country like South Africa, is that SPF is an essential ingredient for any of your facial make-up. I simply do not enjoy getting burnt or baking in the sun, I prefer to preserve my skin’s natural state and elasticity.
So, the search had begun. Usually, I always put on a good SPF50 face cream made specifically for wearing under make-up, but those are quite pricey. I find it nice to have SPF in my foundations as well.
Then, I found Rimmel London’s Match Perfection! It has an amazing soft and smooth texture and blends well into the skin. It has a nice scent as well. It contains a light SPF15, and contains 24-hour moisture so won’t leave your face flaky and dried up during the day.
I personally feel it’s way better than my last foundation brand!I got mine at Clicks, and its relatively well priced (R150) as well compared to the other brands.
This one comes highly recommended especially if you have sensitive skin on the face 🙂
