Summer is undoubtedly my fave season in Cape Town. The weather is hot, and we are spoilt for choice by the many beaches around this beautiful peninsula. Let’s face it, summer in Cape Town is more than just a season…it’s a lifestyle. It’s the best and anyone would be lucky to spend a summer in Cape Town.
So, I have put together 5 key womenswear trends that I think will be over Cape Town city this summer 2017/18.
The Zeitz Museum Of Contemporary African Art, or Zeitz MOCAA, opened its doors on the 22nd September 2017 and held its grand opening to the public for free until the 25th. The museum currently houses the largest collection of contemporary African Art in the world. It is an amazing space and showcases the latest in art from all over Africa from current artists that explore topics on identity, politics, society and history through a variety of visual and aural mediums.
Kalk Bay harbour lies on the East Coast of the Cape Peninsula and lies in the False Bay Gulf. Growing up in Cape Town, Kalk Bay has always been a great post for watching seals, eating out and watching the fishermen come in with the catch of the day. The harbour walks also offer relaxing views of the ocean and a nice break away from the city. Let’s discover more about this small spot in the Cape.
A few years ago, I went on a quick drive up to Stellenbosch and we spotted a cheetah sanctuary. We are lucky in South Africa. We get so much amazing opportunities to see wildlife, that most people only get to see on the National Geographic channels. Whether the animals are in their natural habitat or in sanctuaries, we are still lucky to be able to see them in plenty.
I have been informed that the Cheetah Outreach has moved to Somerset West, about 20 minutes from Stellenbosch. Please refer to the website (below) for more details)
What is a holiday without the beach? I judge a good vacation by the quality of beaches the country has, if they have any of course. Cape Town, has no shortage of the best beaches, and they rank top of my list. Cape Town is a great holiday destination. It’s expensive, but the beaches and relaxed life are totes worth it. Take it from me, I was born here!
I love flowers. I like photographing them, drawing them and just being around
them….minus the bees and gross bugs of course.
Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town has an awesome flower collection and it’s one of my fave places to go and relax on sunny days. Here is a small collection of my faves from my last visit. Now, I usually limit an album to my top fave 10, but they’re flowers….don’t be impossible!
What is a Matric Ball? For those of you living outside of South Africa, it’s the Senior Prom. The final fancy party as we say farewell to out class mates of high school before we go our separate ways.
Girls go giddy, as they watch all the glam events and get the magazines to browse the best dressed lists of all the stars to see what they want their dress to look like. The Matric Ball is essentially the first major fashion event of our lives, even for those not into fashion! ^^ It also served as an escape from the reality of the pending final exams at the end of the year.
South Africa isn’t necessarily perceived as a shopping capital or the go to place to get your shop on, but that has not stopped fashion from happening on our shores! Fashion is big here as any other country, and it definitely has elements that make it unique and fun. We also have lots of fashion blogs popping up, making a buzz on what’s happening here and the latest styles seen on our streets and in our shops.
