Chilly, dark mornings are depressing and they can make your bed seem even more comfortable than usual. Yes, we are finally in winter! I get to take my leather jackets and boots out. My personal staples over the years.
Let’s take a look at the top 5 style trends happening in South Africa for our Autumn/Winter 2019 season. Can you guess what the top trend is? Chances are you’ve already “spotted” it all over your social media feeds!
The Wide-Leg Pants
These are a staple to the autumn/winter closet this year. Found in an array of fabrics from loose and soft to well-structured, these pants are seen everywhere on store floors. They can be worn full length or cropped and they are perfect with a soft knit or shirt for work. The high-waist cuts are the ones I’m really liking, but overall they are chic!
Leopard Print
Lord, this print has taken the country by storm for the past 3 months! Before the weather even started to get chilly, bloggers were already sporting their latest looks and fashion buys covered in leopard print! I think the brown and black offer a nice variation for the colder season, plus it’s one of those versatile prints that practically go with anything. It’s feminine, fun and hints a bit to your adventurous side. I totally indulged in a pair of kitten-heeled sling backs.

Slip-in Mules
We will have those days where the sun comes out to shine and we can opt for these slip-ins. Pointy-toed style ones are the hottest style seen on the streets this season. I think the best thing about them is that they come in such a big variety, meaning you can match and choose the right ones to suit your look.

Ankle Boots
While all boots are technically ‘in’ for winter, ankle boots continue to be favourite in South Africa this season. While they are available in an array of prices to suit all pockets, they are also so flexible to style with socks, stockings and cropped pants. They also come in a nice variety of heel heights and styles. White ankle boots are definitely the top style seen this year!
The Patterned Suit
Matching skirts or trousers and jackets in traditional styled prints such as tweed, check or hounds’ tooth are a popular trend this winter. The pieces are flexible individually and they are great to style formally to smart casual. It’s preppy in a fun way.

There you have your top 5 style trends for SA! Our Winters are short down here, so most the pieces we buy can make an easy transition into the warmer months. Hmm….. I’m interested to see which lipstick shade and makeup palette will be most popular to wear with these trends.
